Are You Summer Time Ready?

As warmer days approach us it's important we remind ourselves that although summer sun is glorious and allows us to make many wonderful outdoor memories with our little ones, it can also be very dangerous if not cautious.

Alongside our extensive summer time baby wear collection of adorable baby boys and baby girls outfits, we also have great range of sun hats. With plenty of colours and styles to choose from, personalised and plain, here at Lullaby Lane Baby Shop I'm sure you'll find the perfect sun hat to add that little bit of extra protection/coverage for your baby this summer.

Before I get into showing you some of our personal favourites, we believe it's important that with a platform such as our own, sharing protective information is a must above everything else.

Here are a few tips and facts to remember, to keep your baby safe in the sun!

As lovely as the sun is, try and keep your baby shaded as much as possible especially from around 11am-3pm, as a baby's skin offers little protection against the sun. Parasols attached to prams are also great for providing extra shade, whilst allowing the baby access to fresh cool air, which is why you should NEVER drape blankets over the hood of your pram, as this will over head and stop cool air flowing.

Cover your baby up as much as possible with light loose cotton clothing, wide brimmed sun hats will help protect the baby's head and face. I know getting a baby to keep their hats on can be a challenge to say the least but please persevere for the sake of your baby. We do offer a few sun hats that actually include chin straps to make it a little easier.

Eyes, necks and shoulders are the most common areas to burn.

Minimise use of sun cream on children under the age of 6 months however if shade is not available use high factor sunscreens with an SPF (sun protection factor) at least 30+.  Sunscreens containing titanium dioxide or zinc oxide are less likely to irritate a baby’s sensitive skin. In addition to sun protection, stay hydrated on hot days by making sure your baby does not get overheated and drinks plenty of fluids.

I've included below some images of my favorite sunhats/ our customers favourites!
